Setting Intentions for 2026

I admit it, I am a complete junkie for New Year’s resolutions. I envision all the ways in which I will improve and change, with the help of so many tempting apps and subscriptions and programs that will vastly transform my mind and body to a state most comparable to nirvana.

Fortunately, before I go off on a spending spree of questionable utility, I (usually) take a deep breath and remember who I am at my core and know that there’s not too much about myself that truly needs to change. Instead, I dig a little deeper into my wants and my whys. If they align with my core values of adventure, fun, beauty, wellness, and freedom, then it’s a good indication that my “wants” are now something I should translate into “hows”. I start working backwards from my goal into the behavioral shifts I’ll make to achieve them over time.

While the energy of the New Year is great for motivating me into action, it’s the subtle routine shifts that I try to commit to. Like James Clear suggests in Atomic Habits, I’m focused on how I can become more aligned to be my most authentic self, one percent at a time.

Here are my intentions for 2026 and the behaviors I’m implementing to move towards my goals. Do any of these line up with your own plans for the new year?

Strength Training

The why: So I can prevent muscle loss, excel at pickleball, and one day chase my grandkids around with ease.

The how

  • Signing up to EVOL Fitness with its easy-to-follow load-bearing classes

  • Dusting off my dumbbells and clearing a space in my home dedicated to my workouts

  • Scheduling 35-45 minutes of workout time in consistent, non-negotiable blocks on my calendar

Meal Planning

The why: As a huge believer in the power of Food as Medicine (I founded a company around it ;-)), I know that eating an anti-inflammatory diet consistently, free of gluten, dairy, and refined sugar, will be the foundation of every aspect of my health, beauty, weight, and energy levels now and in the future

The how

  • Continue my weekly meal delivery subscription with Provenance Meals

  • Schedule a 3-Day Feel Good Fix or 6-Day Provenance Detox once per quarter

  • When eating out, remember to enjoy whatever I desire until I’m about 80% full, with my phone out of sight to completely enjoy my meal and the company I’m with.

Smart Supplements

The why: Food and exercise are the basis of feeling good in my day to day. To fill any nutritional gaps, take high-quality, third-party-tested, pharmaceutical-grade supplements.

The how: Metagenics is the brand I trust the most. My foundational supplements are:

  • Omega-3 Fish Oil

  • Probiotics

  • Vitamin D

  • Magnesium Glycinate

Staying in the Moment

The why: I know my happiest times are when I’m totally present. With my second child in his senior year in high school, I want to maximize quality time as a family before I move into the “empty nest” chapter of my life.

The how

  • Reduce screen time by setting a 30-minute timer when I use my phone for downtime

  • Stay centered by planning some incredible trips in 2026. Traveling always helps put me in a state of wonder and awe.

  • Spend time each week doing offline activities that I love. Pickleball with friends and family is my current obsession, and allows me access to an incredible community and quality time with friends.

Being accountable is often the hardest part of staying committed to goals, so I’m happy to put this in writing to refer back to when my motivation is flagging! My future self will thank me.
